Very addictive! Love the soundtrack too

cheesycoke responds:

AYYY thank you my dude!!!

Its a fun concept (certainly worth revisiting and/or building upon), and as far as menus goes it feels really nice. The way you use the cards to interact with most things remind me a lot of games like slay the spire and hearthstone.

In general the gameplay loop is fun, but there is one thing that really bothers me are the potions. I feel they should be in their own category, there were WAY too many times when i tried fighting a goblin only to feed him my entire potion stock or try to heal myself only to eat a whole axe. Maybe they could be in their own category as an item card, and then include potions that do buffs/debuffs to add to the risk and the curse mechanic?

Overall a solid game and a concept worth revisiting/building upon.

Interesting idea, and certainly worth revisiting/polishing, but there is one major flaw: the inventory for some reason moves alongside the text log, so by the later stages of the adventure there will be so much text that you can't even access your items anymore.

Unless i'm missing some sort of scroll function here but it doesn't seem to be the case.

EDIT: the issue with the scrolling was fixed, things work as intended now. also the new menu
design looks quite nice!

SpinfoamGames responds:

Thanks Zn65 -- there should have been a scrollbar (at least until I can tidy up the layout to keep the inventory from moving at all)!

Just uploaded a new version with what should be a fix for the issue.

Pros:
A good sense of visual style (could use more polish but hey, its a gamejam entry).
Controls are set up nicely.
Level design is fine for the most part (level 5 is a pain in the arse though).

Cons:
Needs more than one music track. As much as i appreciate the tiwinsanity-esque acapella tune (and i hope you guys follow that sound direction), with how the level design is the "if i had a dollar for each death i had in this game i could buy a car by the time i beat it." sort, and how the theme tune repeats from the start after each death, its bound to get annoying (and it did for me).
Physics felt WAAAY too floaty, or at least the player should have a better control over the jumps rather than having it be like a dang moon jump every time. There were plenty of times i could have accomplished a jump, if i didn't end up flying to my death thanks to how it is.

Some nitpicking/suggestion:
A level select would be a good thing to include in this game, and while i never lost track of it, i feel the player character could be a little more visible onscreen.

Its super simple, but also one of the most creative spins on minesweeper i've seen in a long time.

Nice visuals, and the music is nice too, but it would be nice to have some instructions either ingame or in the description, i died quite a few times trying to figure out what was the button to shoot. Not sure if it was intentional, but when you move using WASD rather than the arrow keys you don't turn left and right (it might be like some sort of strafe function then?).

Other than that, pretty neat time waster, could use some stuff to spice things up like powerups (or just different guns) and some different enemies.

rVic responds:

Hi, thanks for the comment and opinion!
I'm still fixing some stuff on the game as well as creating new levels, weapons, and game mechanics. Will keep you guys updated in the next weeks!

Learning art, finally got my degree in CS, hopefully will be a gamedev (as a hobby or a career) someday.
